Biking Around Valencia, Spain

On our second day in Valencia we decided to rent some bicycles to go to the beach again via the Turia Gardens.

But we ended up skipping the beach and went to the port next to it instead.

Needless to say I was a nervous wreck at the start of our journey as I had to learn how to cycle the moment I got my bike.

Thankfully Dan and Eric were patient enough to wait and teach both Rebecca and I before we joined the others.

And of course, we were also really thankful that everyone else was willing to wait for us slowpokes.

My fellow beginner.

When you wanna take a picture but hello photo bomber no.1 complete with a pose.

No. 2 coming up next.

No. 3 lagging behind. Spot the floating head.

Hello to the whole group.

I have to give credit to Eric and Lionel though for the very well taken jump shot.

Impeccable timing guys :)

At the port.

Trying to take a group photo at the port was hell.

The wind was crazy and the sun had no mercy for our eyes.

Picture no.1: Nope. Windswept hair for the guys.

Picture no.2: Nope. Closed eyes.

Picture no.3: Again nope. Girls turn to have windswept hair.

Picture no.4: It is not perfect but we'll take it!

Yeah sometimes I judge them.

The Turia Gardens is undeniably an amazing park situated right smack in the middle of buildings and roads.

Never did I ever imagine to be able to cycle peacefully through a city to head to the beach along a nine kilometres long park.

Valencia definitely did a great job to provide its people with a large park boasting foot paths and leisure and sport areas.

It is such a good place for people to get away from city life and just unwind amidst all the fountains and greeneries.

I can't for the life of me remember how much we paid for the bikes but I don't think it was expensive.

Though I still can't decide if I regret picking a small bike as I am a shortie.

The seat was definitely not meant for an adult's butt -.-

In total we were out and about for around 6 hours and boy were we exhausted.

My legs were like jelly after.

But I guess we can call it a very good day since we didn't kill anyone in the process :)

Health check list:

Butt cramp? Yes.

Sun burned? Yes.

Sweat like hell? Hell yeah.

Killed anyone? Thankfully no.

Crashed into people? No but there were countless of near misses.

Pissed off other cyclists? Yes. I am sorry to the two men who got frustrated at my sometimes zig zag directions. Ooopsss...

Almost fell off my bike? I lost count.

Almost crashed into a pillar? Yes. Well my bike did crashed into a pillar. I was just lucky I jumped off in time.

Picked up battle scars/scratches? Of course. This is me we are talking about.

Note to self: Wear long pants when you are noob at cycling.

But was it worth it? Most definitely :)
